Dumbass® Gifts is a clothing and gift company dedicated to bringing smiles and humor to everyday life. Our dumbass brand revolves around cleverly designed artwork, a play on words, and humorous sayings that evoke smiles from everyday folks. This quest for smiles originated from a childhood memory. A memory recalling… that when grown-ups got together at reunions, neighborhood parties, sporting events, or even cutting wood… mysteriously it became acceptable for adults to use language usually frowned upon. As a matter of fact, these same words that were told to us as being very hurtful and disrespectful, now seemed to make them laugh and strangely appear more friendly towards one another. Instinctively we kids still knew never to repeat the grown-ups use of those words for fear of the consequences. But, we were kids and had our own creed… to get away with as much as possible, without hurting anyone, having supper withheld, or in the confessional on Sunday. At some point during one of these such fishing trips we did just that. A word, a grown-up word, was hijacked and re-created by us kids. Dumbass became dum-Bass, and from that moment on it could freely be shared by us kids without worry of mouths being washed out with soap. The use of this new word, particularly when used in the same context as its predecessor, brought lots of fun and many big laughs to both adults and kids.

20 some-odd years later, creator Mike Farrington is still trying to get away with something. Only this time it is to stay in t-shirts and jeans throughout his professional adult life and justify his fishing trips to his wife and family by creating Dumbass® Gifts.

Dumbass® Gifts has developed 3 lines of unique artwork and sayings related to that memory; Freshwater, Saltwater and Native.

We are also slowly introducing a new line we call the “Landlubber” series. This series will celebrate everyday life’s minor mistakes, mishaps, situations, and small regrets for those of us living it to the fullest.

Imagine a world without dumbasses… who would speak what’s really being thought, who would imagine the un-imaginable, who would dare to try the impossible, and then try again until it is no longer impossible! Imagine the accomplishments that would have gone unrealized! Ben Franklin flying his kite into lightning, Orville and Wilbur Wright‘s pursuit of flight, Cornelius van Drebel’s first submarine made of wood and powered by wooden oars, Jake Burton’s vision transforming the Snurfer to Snowboard.
